What is a call number?
Every book in the library has a call number which associates it to a subject area. The call number is like a street address as it directs you to the location of the item on the shelf.
Make sure you write down the whole call number (e.g. 004.7HESana) so you can find the exact item you're looking for.
The following example explains the different elements of a call number:
004.5 (Universal decimal classification number for the subject)
HES (First three letters of author name or the title)
ana (First three letters of title)
